Circle Of Goodness part 5: Local village life and our factory
At The Good Roll, we're not just about making great toilet paper. We're all about creating a ripple effect that goes way beyond the farmers who grow our most important raw material: bamboo. Our aim? To make a real difference in the lives of local communities. It's not just about paying fair wages; it's about tackling bigger issues, like building clean bathrooms in schools and fighting unfairness, especially against girls and women. We're not here to sell toilet paper; we're here to change lives for the better, starting with farmers and reaching entire communities.
Boosting Local Life
In 2023, almost all Ghanaians struggled to make ends meet, especially in rural areas, with almost 3.7 million living on 1.90$ a day. Our goal isn't just about making jobs; it's about fighting this poverty. So far, we've created 70 jobs with our old factory that we sold in 2023, bringing a breath of fresh air to local villages. And guess what? This helps local shops and taxis too! More people earning means more spending in the neighborhood. And we're not just talking about numbers; we're walking the talk by sticking to principles that ensure fairness and good working conditions for everyone. With our new factory we are continuering this line of making even more local impact.

In Ghana alone nearly 28% of children between the ages of 5 and 17 are engaged in child labour, and we belive thats just not right. That's why we have strict rules against it. And it's not just about words; it's about actions. We team up only with producers who are able to provide us with a formal statement regarding this. In order to ensure that we have the best practices, we do our best to abide by the WTFO principles, this means that we also ensure that our workers have good working conditions in our factory. A safe and healthy working environment for workers is key to maintaining this local village impact .
